It is very rare that
the transmission case itself leaks. The transmission is actually four
separate sections. From front to rear: bell housing, front
transmission section, rear transmission section, and shifter extension
housing. The transmission is sealed very well from the factory.
Signs of leakage between the two transmission sections or the shifter extension
housing will require a serious remove and repair job. If the transmission
was recently serviced for a rebuild, take it back to the transmission shop and
tell them the case is leaking. If it hasn't been recently rebuilt, be
aware that case leaks could be a sign of serious internal transmission damage.
