The intake air
temperature (IAT) sensor tells the ECU what the the intake airflow
temperature is. The IAT sensor is located on the "cap" that covers the
throttle body. It's basically a thermoresistor within a protective "cage".
Total failure of the IAT sensor will cause the ECU to fall into a
fail-safe mode - the car will run very rich. The car will run pretty well
with a bad IAT sensor.

Rich mixtures
Lower MPG
Sluggish throttle response
