There are very little problems with the hood, unless the car has been in an accident or maintained poorly.  Paint and rust problem can be taken care of by a competent auto body shop.  About the only other problem is misalignment, which can be adjusted at the hinges.  Loosen and adjust the pair of 10mm bolts that are located at the bottom corners of the hood.
