If abnormal noises increase when you're shifting into gear, test to see if it affects
all gears or a particular gear. Turn the engine off and then try to shift into
all the gears again - use the clutch pedal at the same time. If the noise
affects all the gears, and you have some problems shifting with the engine off, this
might be the pilot bearing going bad. Please ensure the transmission is using
fresh, quality transmission fluid.

If the noises are isolated to one particular gear or several gears (but not all gears),
it could be synchros and / or gears could be damaged.
