There are two different
types of oil metering pumps for the FC's. The early 1986-1988 FC's have a
mechanical oil metering pump. The later 1989-1991 FC's have an electronic
oil metering pump.
Oil leaking from the flange for both types of oil
metering pumps is due to a rubber o-ring. Replacement of the rubber o-ring
is straight-forward. Oil leaks can also be due to bad copper crush washers
on the oil metering lines.
On earlier 1986-1988 Zenki FC's with mechanical oil metering
pumps, oil can leak from both the "front" and "rear" endplates. Each
endplate is secured by two Phillips head screws. Remove the screws, and
the endplace can be removed. Under each endplate is a diamond-shape
o-ring; they are usually hard like plastic. Mazda does not sell this
o-ring separately, so RTV is substituted as a sealant.
